SXU hosts Computer Camp for Mother McAuley Students
Saint Xavier University's Department of Computer Science recently hosted a computer camp for 20 Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School students at SXU's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.
The students learned about Web 2.0 services, fundamental computer theory, computing careers, computer ethics and etiquette, and practiced programming in the Scratch environment at the week-long camp.
SXU Computer Science Professors Jean Mehta, D.A. and Florence Appel, D.A. taught the class with assistance from SXU computer science students. The camp was part of an ongoing campaign to encourage more female participation in the computing field.
For photos and more information about the camp, please visit its Web site.
The camp was funded by a National Science Foundation grant, and textbooks were donated by Cengage Publishers.
