Brother Rice Students Learn Robotics

For the second consecutive semester, Saint Xavier University students offered programming classes to Brother Rice students. Last spring, the students learned the basics of programming and algorithms using a program named Alice.

This semester focused on building robots and programming them to complete various tasks. For the past six weeks, the students have spent each Tuesday afternoon after school working on the project. Just this week, the second class concluded as the Brother Rice students completed programming their Lego Mindstorm robots to play soccer.

These courses were funded by a CELE faculty-student collaborative grant. Department of Computer Science Profs. Jean Mehta and Chris Harr were faculty overseers, and Michal Bieniek, Alex Lukasik, Miles Nowak and Patrick Seiter were SXU student instructors.
