Linda Goldstein * Alma Mater:  Illinois Institute of Technology

I work as a developer on a team which includes developers, quality assurance analysts, and business analysts, as well as a project manager and a developer tech lead, for a total of about a dozen. Since I work for a consulting firm, when this project ends I will go to a new project and a new team, which may be smaller or larger. On this project we're working primarily in Java; on a previous project we worked primarily in Ruby, Rails, and Javascript; it depends on the best way to solve the problem for the client. A large part of my job is to constantly learn more, and to coach and help the client developers learn more about development and technical best practices like version control, continuous integration and continuous deployment, and non-waterfall practices like card estimation for units of work and pair programming/ pair rotation.

In addition to the email system, the mobile devices used by Claire's employees are connected to servers that I maintain. We have Blackberry, Android, and iOS devices in use by company personnel. I recently completed an online course on Lotus Script and am now just beginning to write scripts. We have many agents already in the system. These agents perform work in the background and off-hours. It is my responsibility to maintain these scripts.I also get to work on many projects throughout the year.
