Service Learning Project
conducted in conjunction with Mother McAuley High School, Chicago, IL
-- Spring 2008.

As a service learning
project, a group of four undergraduate SXU Computer Science/Computer
Studies students went to Mother McAuley,
an all-girl liberal arts high school in Chicago, to teach girls the
basics of programming through the Storytelling Alice programming
environment. Because
girls as a group are underrepresented in Computer Science and in
computing in general, one of our goals was to attract high school girls
to programming using this highly graphic, object oriented programming
environment.
