For this Fall camp High School students learned to build and program Lego Mindstorm robots. School included: Br Rice High School, Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.
For this summer camp students learned to build Android applications using Google’s App Inventor.
Campers learned about computing careers and had the opportunity to shadow women in professional computing positions on the Saint Xavier campus. Along with hands on training.
For this project, student instructors first learned to program Lego Mindstorm robots and them developed a series of exercises for the six-week workshop. Each week SXU students were the instructors, serving as role models and mentors while teaching the Br Rice students to program.
SXU welcomed 20 Mother McAuley High School students to a week-long computer camp July 19-23. They experimented with Web 2.0, learned to program in Scratch. and learned the fundamentals of computing by completing exercises in CS Unplugged
