Rules for the ladder are on the Ladder Tournament page. Anyone may join the ladder and will be placed at the bottom, but moving up is just a matter of winning a 3-game match with a person above you on the ladder.

Chicago Industrial Chess League (CICL) play begins soon. There will also be matches with the excellent team at Brother Rice High School, Joliet Junior College, and other colleges with chess teams in the area. Next spring, club members will journey to Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati to compete again in the Queen City Classic. Last year, the team took the 2nd Place trophy, which is on display in Admissions.

Talley's Corner Match Results & Announcement
The match between SXU students and the chess team of Brother Rice High School on April 1 resulted in a slim victory for SXU. Next year, a two-match competition for the "Talley's Corner Cup" will be held. There will be one match in the fall and another in the spring.
CLUB'S ONLINE CHESS SERVER

Play chess online through the club's free server. You have the option of playing in real-time or in a passive mode. In passive mode, you make your move and can leave the server. When your opponent replies, you will receive an email message and can then return to the server to make your next move. Given the busy lives everyone seems to be leading these days, this is a very friendly mode!

Players on the server are all SXU faculty, staff, students, alumni, members of their families, or the U.S. Chess Federation.Register on the server site. You will receive an email when your registration has been accepted, typically within a few hours.Contact Jim Aman (aman@sxu.edu) for additional details.
